Farrah Molina

Astrophysics Student and Researcher

About me

Hi! Welcome to my website that's all things Farrah! As of fall 2024, I am starting my senior year studying physics at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. Besides struggling through physics, my main hobbies include movie watching (I love going to a movie theater!) and trying new art skills (embroidery has been the most fun). I also love to idle in nature when it isn't sweltering, so in the fall/spring you can find me doing literally anything outside; reading, eating, lounging, plus green is my favorite color, so I love when it's all around me!

Throughout my college career I have found that I have an interest not only in astronomy, but in the technology that advances astronomy. This was bound to happen as my physics department is very small and is combined with the much larger engineering department. I consider myself lucky that I have been able to work with such caring mentors and professors, both at my home institution and others that I have worked at. Some particular areas of astrophysics I work in or want to work in, are exoplanets (imaging them) and quasars or other old AGNs. This past summer of 2024 I got the amazing oppurtunity to do research for CIERA at Northwestern University. Working with the BOBA (Big Planets: OrBits & Atmospheres) group, I got to contribute to a python package called Orbitize!, which you'll read all about on this website! In the future, I hope to continue studying exoplanets and the instruments that help detect and image them, as this is the best of worlds for my interests. Living in space city has provided me with tremendous oppurtunity to advance my prospective career in space exploration, but i'm always open to seeing where the (solar) wind takes me.
