Me

Hello my name is José Flores Velazquez. I am an undergraduate Physics and Astronomy major and Math minor at Cal Poly Pomona. The purpose of this website is to share some of the research I began in the Summer of 2017 as part of the CIERA-REU program at Northwestern University. I am currently working with Professor Claude-André Faucher-Giguère on the Time Scales of Different Star Formation Rates (SFR) Indicators in the FIRE Simulations. The previous summer I took part of the Banneker-Aztlén Institutes at Harvard University under the supervison of Professor Jorge Moreno and worked on the Kinematics of Galaxy Mergers in the FIRE Simulation. In the Fall of 2017 I will be a rising senior applying to graduate programs in Physics and Astronomy. One of the skills I have truely enjoyed is coding because such skill has allowed me to better express some of my thoughts an ideas in order to better visualize different problems. If interested, I am more than happy to chat about my research or if you are an undergraduate or high school student interested in research in astronomy.
